Carbon Footprint
We’ve worked with Product DNA to determine that the total carbon footprint of a single Denali Jacket (incl. standard delivery) is 40.64kg of CO2, which in monetary terms is €0.49.
We’ve also partnered with Forestmatic to actively plant new trees on a monthly basis, in order to ensure that all Mont Gele Gear® business operations, and every purchase that you make, are always 100% carbon neutral.
At the end of every year we’ll display the monetary total of our carbon offset contribution for the previous 12 months, so please keep an eye out for this.
Our carbon offset calculations are based on the assumption that every tree that we plant will live for 5 years and absorb 63.3kg of CO2 during that period. In reality, we expect our trees to live much longer than this of course, and especially as we’re planting trees in the tropics which will never be felled. Therefore, in the long term, our business operations and every purchase that you make won’t just be carbon neutral - they’ll become carbon positive!

DESIGN & QUALITY
The different designs of our jackets, pants and accessories have all been conceived by fashion designer Lenka Mulabegovič, with the assistance of our Operations Director, Patrik Pavlíček. The diverse technical elements in all Mont Gele Gear® outerwear are the result of constant close collaboration with our top European manufacturers.
Each product has been created with the very highest attention to detail and an absolute focus on quality. No corners are cut in our premium ski gear and accessories, and our transparent pricing promise across our entire product range ensures that you will always pay a fair price.

MATERIALS
All our products are crafted from the finest materials currently available and produced to the highest ethical standards in Austria (merino wool), China (the 100% recycled nylon lining in our Denali and Kenai Jackets), Germany (Coolmax® technology - The LYCRA Company), Japan (Gelanots® 2L - Toyota Tsusho Corporation & Pertex® Quantum Pro - Mitsui & Co.), Poland (Climashield® HL), Portugal (the materials in our Technical Ski Socks), Taiwan (the materials in our Valdez and Teton Pants) and Turkey (cotton).
We promise that we’ll continue to work towards our goal of manufacturing our products from 100% sustainable sources, even if at this point this is unfortunately not possible, based on currently available materials and processes.

MANUFACTURING
For the 2020/21 season, we’ve worked closely with European manufacturers based in the Czech Republic, Portugal, Slovakia and Turkey to produce our entire product range. We’re in frequent contact with these valued partners and we also regularly visit their premises. We can therefore assure you that their operations are ethically sound, with their employees treated fairly and working in safe, well-managed conditions.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, we’ve also chosen to keep our manufacturing within Europe so as to minimise the distances that our products need to travel to our distribution hub, thereby reducing our carbon footprint.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
We’re always looking at how we can minimise our impact on the environment, and all aspects of our operations are constantly under review, from the source of our materials, to the location and business practices of our manufacturing partners, to distribution, and everything in between.
Even if we can’t currently produce our premium products from 100% sustainable sources, this doesn’t mean that we can’t reduce our impact on the environment. Therefore, in addition to our continued sustainability efforts, we’re working with Forestmatic to actively plant new trees on a monthly basis in order to offset our carbon footprint. This exciting partnership ensures that our operations as a company, and every purchase that you make, are always 100% carbon neutral. Furthermore, at the end of every year, we will also display the monetary total of our carbon offset contribution for the previous 12 months, so as to guarantee complete transparency.
